American Power Yoga, The Mat, Uptown, Uptown Lakewood
I found my way into a yoga class just after moving to Dallas in 1998 and discovered an escape from my stressful daily life. Yoga, I found to be so much more amazing each time I stepped to my mat–discovering that a mindful practice is a highly transformative experience!  It’s not just a physical exercise, but also a spiritual tool for waking us up to whom we truly are. What I found trying to get out, was a way to go in!

I began studying Iyengar style yoga, but was caught by the wave of vinyasa flow, and felt like I had come home to my mat. Yoga is practice and, always a student; I felt the desire to expand my knowledge of yoga, so I enrolled in teacher training.  I was certified to teach in 2005, and began to realize the fulfillment of teaching, living, and sharing the yogic experience.

This has since led me further down my yogic path taking me to southern India to study yoga at its roots.  I was fortunate to have amazing teachers in vinyasa, Ayurveda, and Ashtanga.   In India I felt so inspired by the healing powers of yoga.  This divine inspiration, I believe, led me to Thailand to study Thai Yoga Massage and back to school to get my LMT, massage license.  I am so blessed to be able to share my practice full-time now, teaching yoga and working hands-on in these healing modalities.

My travels have inspired my love of world music, which I blend into the background of my classes  –which always emphasize breathing, balancing of energies, and grounding as your foundation and your launching pad to bring yoga into your daily experiences.  A mindful awareness practice, no matter how physical, leads us to a more balanced, harmonious life.

I started my studies here, with Dallas yogi, Kurt Johnsen, and have studied here and abroad with teachers such as Shiva Rea, Baron Baptiste, Seane Corn, and others.  I am inspired to continue on my yogic path through the many branches of yoga with more lessons in compassion to come. When I do have free time, I like to explore my creative energy by making inspirational jewelry.
